RailCorp NSW Purchases Metso Impact Crusher
RailCorp NSW recently purchased an LT1110S Track Mounted Impact Crusher from Screenmasters Australia (The Australian Dealer for Metso Equipment). This follows on from their purchase last year of an ST352 Track Mounted Screen. Both machines can be linked together by a cable to exchange key performance parameters from each individual PLC, a major leap forward in occupational health and safety.
Both machines were purchased after a rigorous tender process, whereby references and performance parameters had to be supplied going back 10 years. Spare parts and after sales service, along with product knowledge, also played a major role in the tender process.
RailCorp formed a committee which thoroughly examined all the tenders over a 2.5 month period. Screenmasters Australia won the day.
“Performance was a key parameter in the decision making process.” said
Sam Bayad, Site Recycling Manager. “Over the years, I have observed
these machines closely and they have proven themselves time and time
again. The impactor can handle all the steel that contaminates the feed
material and believe me when I say there is plenty of it. We even ordered
a heavy duty magnet to cope with the excessive amounts of steel.”
“The screen is the best I’ve seen in 14-15 years. I’ve never observed it blinding up and we have a very wet, clay based feed material. I’ve seen 20x5 screens blind up in 1 hour on this same material, where this screen can go all day producing.”
“At the end of the day, the decision was an easy one. It might cost a bit more, but performance, reliability, availability of spare parts and product knowledge outweighs any price difference.”
The Nordberg LT1110S is a Track Mounted Impact Crusher with a capacity up to 300 tph. It can be used both, as a primary crusher and a secondary crusher, or purely as a secondary crusher, representing previously unheard of flexibility and major capital cost reductions. The customer no longer has to buy three machines, only one. Primary acceptable feed size is approximately 750mm with the end product 100% passing 26mm or in a secondary mode, feed size can be as small as 35mm with an end product of 14mm. Adjustments for the above parameters take minutes (and obviously a screen change). No other crusher on the market gives such added value.
Equipped with the new Nordberg 1110M hydraulically driven impact crusher, specially built for mobile applications, the unit can process material at a rate of 300tph. Rock is fed into the crusher via a 950mm x 650mm intake opening and a 1m wide x 10m long conveyor discharges the material onto a screen which is placed in a closed circuit.
The LT1110S features a new modular design, whereby the crusher, conveyor
and Cat C-9 engine are separate elements, making servicing easier and
also allows for better noise insulation of each element. With lower operating
noise levels, the LT1110S is ideal for operating in built up areas.
A standard feature on the LT1110S is the IC500 intelligent controller.
The highly advanced IC500 controls and adjusts all key parameters for
optimum crushing results and in addition to this produces online feedback
to the operator at every stage of the crushing process. The crusher is
actually thinking and letting you know ways of improving its performance.
Using a wide range of optional features, Screenmasters can tailor the LT1110/LT1110S to suit the exact requirements of any customers’ application. An optional screen deck can be fitted underneath the feeder grizzly to separate different grades of material.
Other options include:
- 8m³ hopper
- 13m long conveyor (only on LT1110)
- Water sprays
- Water pump
- Fuel pump
- Optional side conveyor
