Metso and Screenmasters Celebrate the Signing of a New Distributor Agreement

Metso Senior ManagementThe management of Metso Minerals and Screenmasters Australia took advantage of the recent Lokolaunch, staged in Tampere Finland, to celebrate the signing of another exclusive dealership agreement between both companies.

Pictured is Juao Colagrossi (Centre), Managing Director of Metso Crushing and Screening Solutions and Michael McGinley, Managing Director of Screenmasters Australia, together with Metso’s senior management team.

Screenmasters have been the Metso dealer in Australia for over 11 years and this new agreement gives them even greater access to the Metso range of products. Screenmasters is now the exclusive distributor throughout the whole of Australia for Metso’s new range of LT60 series: Jaws, Cones, Impactors, Barmacs and Track Mounted Screens .This agreement has already proved to be a tremendous success for both companies as witnessed recently with the sale of approximately $15 million AUD of mobile equipment to Cemex Australia. This the largest deal for mobile equipment anywhere in Australia in recent years.

Metso and Screenmasters CelebrateBoth companies have invested heavily in this agreement, with Metso spending millions of Euro in new facilities and research and development of new products. Screenmasters have also invested heavily in new warehousing facilities, spare parts, service vehicles and of course the procurement of over $30 million of stock machines – ordered to alleviate the long lead times that all global manufactures are currently experiencing.

“We need to be able to supply machines and spare parts in weeks not in 6-8 months, the market is very strong, we have a great product, a great team of employees and phenomenal belief in the Metso product, that is why we have invested so heavily in this agreement” says Director Mick Lagan. To this end Metso recently hosted over 800 customers, from around the globe, over a two week period at Lokolaunch 2008 in Tampere Finland.

This, the largest single event Metso has ever presented, was a resounding success. Metso arranged for all of their latest models to be placed in a working environment in a local hard rock quarry. Jaws, cones and screens were placed throughout the quarry performing different tasks, with different feed sizes, and obviously different end product sizes.

One of the most impressive demonstrations was when the LT7150 VSI impact crusher was placed after a cone crusher. Customers could clearly see the difference this machine made to the shaping of the stone, for either concrete aggregates or asphalt aggregates.

IP500Another talking point among the attendees was Metso’s development of the IP500 PLC and Camera. The IP500 is basically a camera located on the hopper of the crusher, so that the operator can see the material enter the crusher from a monitor located in the cab of his excavator, the monitor being approximately the size of a standard laptop screen. In addition the monitor (pictured) has a very simple “traffic light display” with a red light for stop, orange light for pause, and green light signaling to the operator to continue feeding the crusher.

It also tells the operator the top 5 reasons why the crusher paused or stopped throughout the day, allowing him to improve as an excavator operator. On another “page” it provides fuel usage, and more importantly from the owners perspective, the overall percentage throughout the day that the crusher was fed correctly, the percentage it was overfed ,and lastly the percentage over the day that the crusher was either not being fed at all or was being underfed. This provides the owner with all the answers he needs, as to why some operators can achieve 2,500 tons in a day and others only 1,800 tons.

The IP500 can be retro fitted to all Metso crushers that currently have IC500, IC600 or IC700 PLC units. The unit will be available in Australia later in the year – another example of Metso staying ONE STEP AHEAD OFF THE COMPETION.
