Screenmasters Offer ARR Crushing & Screening Solution

Adelaide Resource Recovery (ARR), one of South Australia’s biggest recycling companies, recently purchased a heavy duty 16 x 6 scalping screen from Screenmasters Australia, adding to their fleet of 6 Nordberg mobile screens and crushers purchased in recent years.

ARR are currently working 7 days a week to satisfy customer demand. They require machines to have high productivity and very high reliability, both requirements easily met by Nordberg’s crushers and screens. LT1213sDowntime must be kept to a minimum.

To crush and screen their concrete, 100% passing 22mm, ARR use two Nordberg LT1213S track mounted impact crushers with a feed size 650/700mm.  “Over the past few years these machines have been incredible” says Matthew Size, ARR General Manager, “we are approaching 10,000 working hours on the crushers alone, that speaks volumes of their up-time.”  “We process some heavily contaminated concrete with steel, cast iron, and rubbish all mixed together and the machines have never let us down.”

Andy Denman, ARR head of maintenance, says simply, “Nordberg crushers are the best. We run one machine which acts as a Primary crusher and a secondary crusher with a screen attached, they process 100% 22mm all day. We have never broken a blow bar in all the time we have owned the machines and the control the PLC gives us over the crushing process is amazing, just a push of the buttons and you can see the increase in production within minutes.”

ARR 1Recently ARR purchased a Nordberg ST352 track mounted screen to produce 5mm soil, 5 -10mm aggregate, and 10-22mm aggregate. Once again, this machine is controlled by a PLC. The IC300 allows the user total control over every aspect off the screening process, “we can, at the push of a button, adjust the speed of the screenbox from 1200rpm to 1050 rpm, and the PLC ensures that the screenbox maintains that speed no matter what the load”. This is vital when you are screening aggregate, no cross contamination. “As a direct result of this control the ST352 gives ARR approximately 25% more production on a daily basis than similarly sized screens, or in most cases even bigger screens.”

Pictured left and below is the 16 x 6 scapling screen used to process rubbish on site, “previously we used trommel screens but they proved too slow, blocked up all the time, and were a lot of maintenance. These machines have increased ARR efficiency by 150%, no blockages. The extra vibration the screen has means the plastic, wood, cardboard etc doesn’t block-up the screens, and we process 10mm minus from the bottom deck. It certainly opened my eyes” says Andy. The screen has proved so productive that ARR are currently building a much larger picking station to handle the increased production and efficiency that this machine provides. A second machine has already been ordered for another project on-site.ARR 2
